Shes a 2000 reg Ford escort mk7 which a got for a steal at only £500 with full service history and one family from new :)
ive had her for a few months now but spend nothing on her accept petrol, 2 wiper blades and a wing mirrow :) so cheap running!
deicided she needed sprucing up tho now so got her a set of alloysfor only £35, win
rubbed one down and masked it.
Posted Image
then painted in rustoloum white (left overs from mini) :)
Posted Image
shes had a hole on the front bumper since i had her, something to do with a cricket ball and the previous owner :) well it didnt lok good and let her down :(
so filled and sanded
Posted Image
primed
Posted Image
painted
Posted Image
reassembled with her new pressed plates, looking rather nice now
Posted Image
now todays work
scuffed and cracking in 3 places
Posted Image
cracks veed out

thanks for the replys guys :)
im thinking doing the side repeaters but hadnt really thought about de trimming it, think it may look a bit weird?
think im going to respray the handles body coloured and possibly the front grills silver but not sure yet.
any ideas from people would be nice, i just cant afford any mods over about £30 as most of my money goes on mini!

Hi mate, how did you get the cracks out the bumper?

You mentioned 'veed' - but what is it? And what tools do you need?

Got a front bumper I gotta do and just wondering :)

PM me if you want pal, might be easier :D

so then, done a bit more work on this as its cheaper than the mini haha
started by wire brushing the front passengers side suspension and painting the calliper red :)
Posted Image
then i moved to the back where i encountered an unwanted problem.
in jacking up to replace the wheel with an alloy there was a lovely crunching sound and the top of the trolley jack dissapeared into the back of the sill :(
it looked only as bad as the front with a few bubbles so i was rather shocked. im not sure if this a mot fail but i wanted it fixed anyways!
Posted Image
so i cut away some of the outer sill to assess the damage fully, and well it was rather crusty :( and looked like alot of work.
Posted Image
i then discovered a was out of gas so slapped some gaffa tape over it to get to town and back :)
then the work began.
rust cut out and first panel in and welded
Posted Image
second panel made and welded, i have no idea how it was originally as it was all holey haha so i welded it a strong as i can
Posted Image
third panel made, with some added plugs to try and strenthen the area
Posted Image
and welded in and painted.
Posted Image
Its not perfect i know but this is my run aroundand its protected for now. It needs work round the arch lip anyways so i will finish of the work sometime next week. hope you like this update. shame i couldnt do any work on mini today tho :(

They are notorious for rusting around the rear suspension mounts (bit you've repaired) and chassis rails. Mine failed the mot on these.

hello again people, i think its about time for another update for the escort :), as i was at a loose end today and wasnt sure what to do on the mini i did some work on escort :)
she had got a couple of spots that let her down at the moment so ive done some remeding work:
first on todays agenda:
the rusty front of the passengers side rear arch---- i hamerited it a while ago but i was bugging me because its rusty
as it was
Posted Image
rust ground back, it wasnt too bad, needed some new metal tho
Posted Image
krusted the lip and then zinc primed it, made a new panel to replace the rusty old one
Posted Image
tacked it in
Posted Image
welded it up
Posted Image
ground it all back
Posted Image
skim of filler as this area is in view
Posted Image

whilst the filler was drying i had a look at the sill repair i did in november, i didnt leave it in the best of ways and just sprayed red over the metal so its a bit rusty again :(
Posted Image
ground back all the welds and rustyness
Posted Image
krusted the patch
Posted Image
filled
Posted Image
primed and painted
Posted Image

then made a start on the last alloy to paint
primed
Posted Image
painted,
Posted Image
it was then fitted once dry, the brake drum was hemerited red of it would let the car down! :0

and an overall picture of todays work, doesnt look like much but its made me a bit happier knowing this side is finished and all looking nice n tidy
Posted Image
and an overall shot of the car in all her glory, just need to sort the stone chips on the front bumper and bonnet now
Posted Image

hope you like the work today
