yh its something for me to do when i get bored with the mini :) and to make my body repair skills a bit better as they are lacking in fine details, mainly final fillering and painting.

So there was a little more work for me to do today, as i was looking around the car looking for spots that needed fixing i came across a few horrible rust bubbles on the rear of the drivers side arch, so i removed the rear bumper to get a better look at the rusty spots
Posted Image
ground back all the surface rust and its made a few lovely holes that now need patching
holes ground back and zinc primered
Posted Image
patches welded on to strengthen the bumper mounting area and the rusty area i spotted earlier krusted
Posted Image
primered the patches and filled the hole
Posted Image
filler rubbed back
Posted Image
and a few coats of primer put on
Posted Image
ive had to put the bumper back on as this is my daily car and it got too dark to work on her. ill make another update when i next have time to finish it

i had to weld sills on one of these, right nightmare! the lip along the bottom where the sill joined the floor was absolutely rotten, as were the sills, ended up using some angle iron welded to the floor to use as a new lip to weld the sills to, car was scrapped 8 months later due to being written off! haha!

thanks for the comments guys, i thought i got a bargain for the lights too! :) i dont want to change it too much from standard so not sure about the rs2000 stuff mini will,
and i know what you mean olds_kool_lews, it wasnt my best welding, had to do a bit of a lap weld for one of the inner skins which i dont like doing really, turned out not so bad in the end, need to do the other side soon tho as the rusty arch lets it down big time!
tiny update from yesterday tho

Nice little project, work looks good. Going back to what someone said about de-trimming the door, I agree it may look a bit weird (may not). Best bet would be to get some colour coded trims from one of the higher spec'd models. Don't paint the grilles silver either, will look wrong.

Not a fan of the new lights I'm afraid, IMO they look really chavvy and really aren't an improvement. My friend had the same style lights on hs slightly barried Fiesta...clear indicator works though.

so then, i havent done any work on this since the last update until i got hit slightly at my work car park on the back bumper, slighly annoying!
dent and scrape sanded down so make it smooth
Posted Image
dent filled in and light scratches too
Posted Image
all re flatted back again
Posted Image
little schooch of primer
Posted Image
and a few coats of paint, done a pretty good job i think :)
Posted Image
i then had a walk around my car looking for bits i didnt like
i noticed loads of scratches on the boot hinge panel with some going rusty, my surfing probabley doesnt help haha
Posted Image
so i rubbed it down, primered and then flatted it back
Posted Image
added a few layers of paint
Posted Image
and put stuff back on the car, looking nice and shiny now again :)
Posted Image
i also noticed the repair that i did on the rear wheel arch had gone bad, probably due to respraying it in the cold!
so i flatted back the paint and as you can see there is a slight hole haha
Posted Image
refilled the hole
Posted Image
flatted back and primered up
Posted Image
and resprayed
Posted Image
nice and shiny
Posted Image
all my repairs looking nice and invisible making the car look more loved!
hope you like these little running repairs :) 10pts if you can spot my mini in any pictures!
