Take a look at this petition and sign up!

There is nothing impossible being asked here and it's not some flyaway dream like some petitions, it's an idea that should already be used but isn't!

So here we are in the depths of the worst economic crisis this country has ever seen, there is a massive hole in public finances, taxes are on the increase and such huge cuts are being made to public spending that an unprecedented number of workers are due to walk out on strike next week.

Do you really think that the government is actually going to increase tax exemption for those individuals who can afford to have a classic car sat in the garage, that they only use for fun at the weekends?? Also historic vehicles are often classic sports cars owned by the rich (by Tory MP's for instance), to extend what would essentially be seen as a tax perk for the rich would be a PR disaster for the government, particularly with the MP's expenses scandal still so fresh in everyone's mind.

So whilst I do agree with the sentiment as I'd love to own a 1981 model and not pay road tax, this petition certainly is a "fly away dream" when you consider its timing....

i'm not sure i want my mini classed as historic

if we come in line with Europe (again) it will mean i'm restricted when, where and how much i use my mini

having it classed as PLG and paying just over £100 is good value not to have those restrictions

to be honest i instently said this will never happen when i saw it but hey would be nice and it takes nothing to sign a petition the tiny amount the goverments earns from classic car tax would make no difference to the billions of pounds the eu has managed to rack up in debt... we might as well have as much perks in life before germany and france ******* off and leave us looking after greece and italy true??? :P trololol
