Does it seem to you guys that the mini scene is getting bigger or deminishing?

Depends on how you define mini scene really, as the amount of cars left will inevitably be going down, but more and more will be being restored and/or bought by enthusiasts like us, instead of being owned as just a car to get around in. I wonder how the scene would compare with say 10, 20, 30 years ago? Obviously more minis around back then, but just how many were owned by people that would fix them, modify them, love them, take them to shows, etc?

I think your seeing a growth world wide. With the introduction of the BMW Mini, much of the world is becoming aware the the Classic Mini. Many enthusiasts are seeking the Classics because they are either a traditionalist and they want one while they are still around and plentiful, or are looking for a complimentary fun car to go with their new one. A kind of status symbol. My wife has a new Mini, where I prefer the Classic.

I am the same if i even know where a mini is normally parked and its gone out it will still put a smile on my face, i have been driving for a few weeks now seen about 4-5 mini's and i've chased, followed and talked to about 2-3 of them!! (others i lost on roundabouts or traffic lights :( ) i have been on the mini forum alot longer now lingering around styling, classifieds and of course mini chat ;-). I have a Project City E which im customizing (cosmetically (nothing to harsh) i have a Mayfair which since 89 the only difference is pedals, steering wheel and paint job. which i will be putting back too 100% original factory condition, just because i have never come across a standard Mayfair and think it should be recognized (how many custom jobs are a Mayfair or city or 80's mini) and finally i have a shell which i will soon be putting up on here as im taking everything of it and selling just a bare mini shell. this is it i will be making a thread soon ->[attachment=120957:Minis for sale 008.JPG]

Ha, I've been restoring a 1275gt for the last couple of years and it's nearly finished (and looking awesome!). Now I'm thinking about my next project before I've even finished this one! I already know the colour and a few of the mods I'm gonna do....... :D

Even my grnadparents call my Mini by his name and ask after him. I think I annoy people a bit talking about them all the time lol. Fortuntely, my brother in law likes classic cars and has an MGB so someone to talk to who understands.

I regularly read old Mini Mags and Worlds just for inspiration for ideas.
