i have built the ron champion locost chassis based on the 1.3(i think) ford crossflow, i had to make changes to make the parts like suspension and bushing etc that i could buy handy fit but i found the car quite rigid while driving. not disputing what anyone says but i don't find it a total waste of time because i learn't from it and some have simply widened the chasis, and possible modified the origional design, to accomadate the 2.9v6 or a v8.... although i can't say what efforts the author went to to relieve stress from within the frame

i was going to try build a spaceframe also but didn't because of the design process involved... i can use cad no probs but the rest goes well over my head, i'm also a trained welder but not qualified,

5G is not a huge force, when i worked at JCB PowerSystems they modelled the load factors just for the exhaust catalysts to be able to cope with 15G loads, that was just for something like bumping a Loadall up a kerb!!
