whilst at work today we had another customer arrive to take away their new pride and joy, a young lad who had just passed his test, like most of our buyers are.

however, after my mate gave him a quick demo of the controls and switches etc, he then moved onto the choke.

now im not that old (honest) but being part of my generation i grew up going places in my dads morris ital, which obviously had a choke. then moving into my teens my older brother had a metro and then a few minis before i passed my test, so i was fully used to seeing what it was for, and knew how to use it.

but today i was thinking how strange it is for new drivers, being about half my age, who learn to drive in much newer cars that everytyhing is electronic etc. you dont even have to wind the windows down let alone pull the choke out!

this is in no way a criticismby the way, just an observation!

so what is the choke for again?

I heard if you pull it out when the engine is cold it makes it sound angrier.

Am I unusual that I've never had any advice or even told hold to use it, I just gathered by how it drives, with and without until warm, and I'm only 18 :ohno:

It is for the cruise control isn't it?! :shifty:

My grandmother, who owned my car before me, had a collection of bulldog clips for that.

Try over preparing, doing so much research on a mini that you get your shiny new SPI and keep pulling the heater knob out before you start it up.
I have learnt much since!!!
