Can anyone tell me if the picture in my original post is showing?
I am just worried about how hard it will be to weld in a whole new doorstep. Im pretty good at welding, but I don't want to make things worse.

It is straight forward to install a new step however the pattern ones are very hit and miss and i ended up fabricating my own from scratch. And yes your original picture is showing.

Hi Mate, I agree with the others. Replace it and if ya do a good job you'll never know its been welded at all...filler is a magical thing if ya need it lol I have some good pics of my doorstep replacement on my phones. When i get home i'll stick the mon my thread and you can see how i did it.
