Thing is, Footman James are just a broker, I went through them and I'm with Equity. Maybe they won't stop for everyone?

I'm with Equity (via Footman James) as well, and so are two of my friends (all of us 18-19), so I assume the majority of us young-uns are with them and we all might have a nasty surprise come renewal time :ermm:

I'd love to be old for insurance purposes! I hate it when my dad makes a big song and dance about saving £25 on his insurance  I reckon the insurance companies would pay him money to be insured on my car :D

My Dad works for an independant settlement company, who basically evaluate your car when you write it off with no prejudices etc, and he deals with Equity claims. He says that Equity haven't gone bust so it must be another one of their underwriters

this old git got his footman james renewal through the post this morning

it would seem it's just youngsters they don't like

i did read on another forum that footman james was recently sold and the previous owner is now trading as peter best insurance

not sure if it's true but might be worth a try

Having a 17 year old daughter myself I do feel for youngsters trying to insure cars today.

Classic cars tend to be owned by people who love their cars, care for them well and drive them carefully so classic insurance is cheap. Unfortunately the chav element has got wise to this and are buying classic cars like Minis and Escorts because the insurance is much lower. Sadly they do not drive them carefully and have the same accidents that they always did in their chav-mobiles resulting in situations like this where classic car insurers are getting more choosy about who they will insure.

If you ring around some of the other classic Mini insurers you'll doubtless find someone that will insure you. Sadly though I fear prices will only go one way.

If I can't get insurance it could mean that I have to sell my Mini that I haven't even picked up yet :(

I'll try that Peter Best in the morning tho
