hey guys i was wondering how people keep the inside of there mini's dry , my carpets arnt in atm , and i have noticed all the water , i do know of two places its getting in one is the window seal , and one is the drivers door , it ends up running on the door card and down , my windows steam up really bad aswell , so was wondering if anybody has and tips to try and keep the moisture down until i can get the window out again

I would say new seals are needed really, I would check to see if it is starting to rot any where around the windows roof doors and arches, places where the water has a biggest chance of getting in really

same boat i just discovered a 2mm gap between the seal and the glass on the passenger side. this is my second leak, first was coming through the bonnet release cable going through the bulkhead. Ive just siliconed it up until i get new doors, never really use the passenger window anyways.

new seals and make shore there are no gapes then the doors are closed.

Regualarly checked 'blue roll' or cat litter will give you an inclination of which direction the water is coming in from. This is a viable option as you say that there is no carpet in at the moment.

Snap! nearly an inch of standing water in drivers footwell. New door seals (nope) adjusted the door window strips (nope) taken the door card off and blocked up all the gaps (nope)...
So now I think that the dooe has just sagged over time and isn't sitting right. I do know that the windsvreen does leak a tiny bit but not bad.

is it worse after driving or does it not change it?
Because it can either be a water leake from spray or raining in. (or indeed Both )

ye i noticed when i clean my car all the spray comes in bad. mines got a leak atm too but i dont know how its coming in. sometimes it'll come in when the car is park other times i have to be moving for it to come it. it baffles me.

Both my doors leak due to rust, last part of my of my car that needs to be replaced due to it but I cant afford to at the mo, so I just took the carpets out and carry a towel at all times

i had a leak at the window seal, put a new seal in and it still leaked at the same spot, put new door check seals and door seals, replaced every seal i could on the doors and still leaked, so i got heavy grp doors and now parked indoors

mine would seal on a light rain but any heavy rain or when i washed the car with a hose, it would leak

One thing to check is, the place where the dash air vent holes come through the body can rust, and once it has rusted a hole through it makes it very easy for spray from the wheels to spray up to the dashboard soundproofing (and soaking it) when you're driving and then slowly drip down the footwell under the dashboard.
The front parcel shelf or glovebox might be damp if it's this.

Mine must be one of the few watertight minis. Both doors have all the holes covered with duct tape. Plus both front and rear screens have been sealed with sealant goo just to make sure they don't leak.

think im gonna take my dash out , and give it a dusting of talc powder then let the weather do its job , then have another look see if i can pin point it , i do defently know its coming in from the window strip

Don't drive it, and park it in the garage. Thats where mine lives...


Edit... but seriously, check seals like people have said, but also the door catch (hole in 'a' pillar)

Same problem here, drivers side is normally flooded, passenger side is normally flooded. And I took up the drivers side rear carpets to find a swimming pool underneath!!!

So I have no carpets or sound proofing in now and just put some newspaper under the mats to soak the water in.

i keep forgetting to change it all though >.<
