
Help! Water Leakage!

I'm kinda new to the whole mini game after just purchasing one for my first car. I've purchased a '92 British Open classic, and recently discovered water in both footwells, as well as some minor rot.
I've ripped out the carpets and sound proofing to try and locate the leak. We've checked the door seals and have noticed a minor, small leak. So we dried up the floors, put the carpets back in, and are about to order new door seals. However; after going out in the rain yesterday, we again noticed some water in the footwells. At first we assumed this was purely the door seals. We left the car in the garage over night, and after checking today there is a good inch or so of water in the passenger footwell, and about 1/2 an inch in the drivers, as though it's been filling up in something then leaked in over night. It can't really be the heater matrix, as it only occurs after a rainy drive or clean. Trouble is i will be using this car for work 5 days a week in the new year, and would really like to get it sorted. Any suggestions of other places that it could be getting in?

Roof seems fine, no signs of leak. There is a drip from the screen every now and then, but nothing that could equate to this amount of water. :/

Thanks for that, only one thing on there that I think it could be though, and even then I'm not sure, any other suggestions?

Have you had a look at your radiator fluid level?? if this is low it could be the pipes to the heater matrix leaking or the matrix itself.
To be honest the best thing to do is strip out the carpet then get somebody to hose the car down while you are in it and go from there.

What condition are the rubber plugs in the floor pans? Could be water coming up, alternatively rust in a wheel arch maybe. The way in may not necessarily be where the water collects.
Don't think it's the arches, they seem fine. Where are these rubber plugs that you speak of?

- Yeah I can't see them anywhere, but there's no sign of plates being welded over..If you look at the floor pan you will see round rubber plugs about and inch or so in diameter. There are several in the front and again several in the back although you may find these have been deleted by a previous owner by welding in blanking plates.

Have you had a look up around the fresh air vents either side, there may be rust there.

Have a look at the bottom of each flitch. Shine a torch in from the wheel side to see if there are any perforations.

Could you show me a wider picture please? I cannot see where this is supposed to be..Its possible you never had them to start with or somebody has inserted blanks and ground flush. I have done that on Project Erm. The fact you cannot see any bungs or holes rules out water ingress from there.
