I know the pain - a couple of years ago when we had the *really* windy weekend (November-ish), car door blew open in a car park, straight into the side of a brand new Golf estate
. I did the honourable thing and left my details. It's still costing me, took 2 years no claims away! 'Twas definitely the right thing to do though - if it'd happened to the mini and no-one had left a note, I wouldn't be held responsible for my actions....
Should of left the note very loosely under the wipers... Not your fault if the wind blows it away!

I rented a garage from an old girl down from me. Tha garage had those wooden doors, one either side, which had a bolt at the bottom to slot into the floor.
I'd had the car a 2 days when I was pulling out of the garage in the car, when the wind blew one of the doors so hard, that the bolt couldn't hold it.
Resulting in a badly creased and bent wing. BBbaaasssttaarrdddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man I was so so gutted. **** happens!
