63,000 out of 1,500,000 is quite a small percentage

I found this pic surely they made a lot more after this clubman? *confused*

That is not the 5 millionth Mini. I think it's the 5 millionth front wheel drive BMC/Leyland car which would have included the 1100 and 1800 models by Issigonis/Pininfarina.
The 4 millionth Mini was made in 1976 and was a Clubman.
It took another decade to make another million. The 5 millionth was either a City or Mayfair in 1986.
I thought I read somewhere there were an estimated 100,000 Minis in Japan but do not rely on that.
I do not think potential barn finds are included in the SORN totals as they only cover late cars after the legislation was introduced.

1986, the five millionth Mini had been produced – Noel Edmonds saw it off the line.

Does that total include the Innocenti Mini, the Spanish Authi, the Australian ones and all the other production locations (South Africa and Belgium maybe - not sure)?

The latest DVLA figures for the Classic Mini were published in the November 2010 issue of Mini Magazine:-

'Barely 30,000 Mini's left on the road 2010'
Latest UK Statistics:
63,592 Classic Minis still registered in UK on October 1st 2010
of which:
32,847 were taxed,
30,745 on SORN

Ah it was 30,000 on the road, not in total - thought I was going wrong somewhere!
