Even though it is a Ford, it shows traces on Mini ancestry, transverse engine and CV joints amongst other things, like almost all modern cars. And, of course, typical front wheel drive handling, very safe and forgiving, the sort of thing that was almsot unknown till the Mini.
Once I get my house and workshop sorted out, first thing is another Mini, which will be getting a turbodiesel. Then a Rover P4, which will get a straight 6 turbodiesel (a car like that can't have a 4 or even 5 cylinder engine, which are plentiful, as it would be undignified.) Oh, and I will not have to modify the monocoque (what monocoque?) for that, so there should not be BIVA complications. Then a stretched Mini, maybe 6 wheels, which is bound to need BIVA, and that will be quite sufficient to keep me busy in retirement in a few years.

Alfa 147 1.6 - I need something a bit bigger, to fit two border collies in! But it sailed through its MOT, just paid the tax and 4 new winter tyres on it. So I am gonna hold onto it. It is a 11 year old alfa so does have its "issues" but as they say "better the devil you know". I would actually recommend it as a daily drive, 120 bhp weighs about 1300 kg, Still looks really modern and teh interior is beautiful as with all Alfa Romeos.
Well I now know what happens when a cam belt breaks. Unfortunately i was on the motorway at the time! So I had to bye to my lovely Alfa. Still I managed to sell it for 900 quid, with a totally foooked engine.
And here is the replacement, Short of my mini one of the best cars I have ever driven (and owned) - 2000 A3 Quattro TS 180bhp with 'part-time' all wheel drive.
Some small fixes needed, note front valance. When I bought it i think someone had polished it with a cheese grater, so many swirl marks. I have gone over it twice with some Meguiars scratch x and a DA polisher and it is much better,.
