the rover number plate surround made of plastic, pretty much the same shape as the mini bootlid so didnt really need to mess with it, i did have to cut a huge hole in the mini bootlid though i also welded up a couple of bits of box section in to brace the now floppy inner supports (pictured below), then welded the top section of the inner supports to the bootlid skin (also pictured)




only issue is along the bottom edge, slight gap between the bootlid and rover surround, this is because the rover suurround isnt big enough to cover the whole original mini number plate recess, im thinking of either cutting each side and just bringing the bootlid skin out to meet the surround, or using some of the factory fitted foam off the rover surround to fill it, not decided yet, hope that all makes sense , for fitting in place there are 4 bolts on the back so i might weld a couple of straps accross back to bolt in place, if not i think tiger seal will be up to the job of securing it, that stuff is super strong

as for the rest of the bootlid, i did try a side opening hinge originally but this badly failed and wasted alot of time, but i do have some nice billet hinges coming from america to sort this issue, which way the bootlid opens is still in planning, im still liking the side ways bootlid though

i think the door poppers are probably my favorite part of the car, sure its gonna get some looks off everyone when you get in or out
