Hello everyone,
As you can probably tell and see, I have literally just joined The Mini Forum and I am ashamed to say I do not own a Mini
I have just turned 17 years old and will be learning to drive very soon, and hopefully (fingers crossed) getting a first car when I pass my driving test. My dream first car would be a Mini Cooper :)
I am a tall person (nearly 6ft 2in) but still want a Mini! I have always loved Minis; I love their charm and cheekiness, such a great British design that still looks amazing years after it's first production.
I would like some advice on what Mini to have as a first car, what to look out for when buying one and how to look after it (I am an Apprentice Mechanic at Volkswagen.) I am almost sure I won't be able to purchase a Cooper but are there any other Mini's that are as good as the Cooper but cheaper to purchase and/or insure.
Any help would be greatly received.
From, Josh W

I good starter Mini would be a City or a Mayfair ... or perhaps a Sprite (but their engines are bigger - so might be more difficult to insure)
Have a look around on eBay/Pistonheads etc - look for one with decent bodywork, I would say.
But above all - Welcome to TMF
