If you've got the pipe wrangling skills you could copy the Janspeed setup & mount it above the clutch housing.

If i cannot mount the t3 close enough to the block to clear the bulkhead i would possible consider changing the plans and opting for a T2 but i would have to see how everything goes together when i get the time to mock it all together

The problem is that certain members on theis forum always bring this issue up. And the reality is that none of them have actaully ever tried to put a car through it. Like everyone else they are just trying to guess how the wooly-worded documents may or may not affect certain modifications.

The reality is that fitting a bulkhead box may be considered to invoke the IVA process it as yet never has done, and I cannot percieve a time that it will. And even if an IVA was required they could only test the non-standard parts.

Having said all that, fitting a turbo without modding the bulkhead is a better solution for a lot of reasons. The T3 is an old turbo, and while it will still make power, it's better to choose a turbo that will fit rather than mod the chassis.

I'm pretty sure that if anyone ever gets pulled and finds themselves having to have an IVA we'll all know about it.

Most of the threads on here are scaremongering, but that's no to say you should ignore the issue.

may e resurecting an old thread here and there does seem a lot of talk about regards iva,s ect. but surely cuttin the single skin steel above the box section that runs along the bulkbead for the top of the subframe towers to bolt to and replacing with a well constructed box made from slightly thicker steel sheet maybe with some swages in the box is going to be a damn sight stronger as wrll as that maybe replacing the lower dash rail which are not the strongest things in the world anyway with a 25 mm box section or 30 mm round tube that the reaR of the box is attached to (welded). i just dont see the worry about strength loss

It's nothing about losing/gaining strength, it's the fact that you'll be modifying the structure of the car

You could argue that any mini thats gone near à welder has à modified structure ? Tests aside ime all for it its part of the reason i got into minis many moons ago the only thing thats changed in that time is the red tape you have to go through to build it as you want it.. and the price on the cars compared to when i could pick them up for 50 quid
