Carb To Fuel Injection Project- Sc 5 Port Management System

The reason for the project is i tow an Eriba Puck Caravan to shows & events during the summer season with my Mini Club (Robin Hood) & my standard 1275 mayfair struggles on the hills.
I am looking for max low to mid range Torque not max hp from the engine.
I looked at several engine options including forced induction & settled on the SC 5 port system because i also wanted fuel economy smooth running & reliability when not towing.
I am going to refurb & modify a seperate engine & gearbox then remove my old unit and replace it with the new one with the 5 port management system to save my Mini being off the road for a long period of time.
My target date is to have it all fitted up and running ready for the Brooklands Show in March
Components purchased to date
1275 Engine & gearbox from a club member
Good box no crunching or jumping out of gear but the engine did smoke & had a very lively unknown cam fitted which made it difficult to drive at low speed.
Mini Speed 4 pin Diff (Brooklands Mini Day 2011)
Central Oil pick up (Stanford Hall 2011)
Specalist Components 5 port Management System 50mm throttle body (Stanford 2011)
SC Stainless Steel LCB with a lombard take off (Stanford 2011)
SC Billet thermostat housing with M12 tapped hole to fit SC Coolant Temperature Sensor (Mail Order oct 2011)
Cilinder Head 12G940 from MPi (Normanby Hall 2011)
Mini Sport 1.3 Roller Rockers (Normanby Hall 2011)
Maniflow twin box side exit exhaust system (Mini Sport @ Normanby Hall)
MPi fuel tank with fuel pump (Stanford Hall 2011)
DSN RetroSport billet alloy distributor hole blanking plug (Mail Order Oct 2011)
DSN RetroSport billet alloy heater take off blanking plate tapped 5/8 for standard temp sensor
DSN RetroSport billet alloy fuel pump blanking plate
Work carried out up to date
Cylinder Head
Peter Burgess EconoTune mod (increase torque low to mid range )
Engine
totaly strip the engine check crank bores & pistons
Crank has been ground once with -10 shells fitted but needs another grind as slight scoring found on journals and shells
Pistons & bores look very good with +40 pistons going to have the bores honed & new rings
Gearbox
Looked ok on first basic inspection
Took the gearbox to local gearbox specalists (17/01/12) for full refurb, fit central oil pick up & 4 pin diff with 3.1 ratio
If anybody has already fitted a SC 5 port system or a tyhoon ignition kit i would be very gratefull for any tips
I will try to take some photos and post them with my updates

his main problem was it was running uber rich and i think sc were only intetested in getting it to their rolling road which cost him a bit of money, i will post his dyno results later, he has a printout of his dyno graph

or do you still need a choke in the mornings

does this setup eliminate the choke.
or do you still need a choke in the mornings
Yes and no. There is no choke as such as the mapping has compensation for engine temperature, however the choke cable is attached to a lever that opens the buttterfly slightly to increase tickover when cold. If you wanted you could fit an idle valve eliminating the need for the choke cable all together. However, I never use the choke cable and it ticks over ok when cold (not perfect but ok).
I think SC were right to get the car on the rollers it's the only way the'll have had to get the fuelling right. I fitted a wideband lambda (essential really) this meant that I could fiddle away to get the fuelling spot on. Generally I have the laptop in the car and make changes as I drive.
The key to getting the thing to start and run is understanding the software and what everything does. As everything in life it may seem difficult to start with, but it's dead easy really. folow the SC instructions and you can't go far wrong.
I've had mine on for a year now and it's great.

Go all out 1380 or just an ecomonical 998 or 1275.. the car i have in mind for this will be an everyday driver. but will be doing alot of motorway driving.
is there a noticible differance in the driving of the engine, responcive, ecomony etc.....
