always wanted a mini for years, passed my test two days ago (yes already looking haha) and i was looking at a mini one, 1.6 and i found a few i like and have had a look, iv been aroud looking at insurance and for my first year it would be just over £3,000 , i looked for a really old fiat and found insurance came up cheapest at £8,000 which was odd and when i rang up so i thought i might aswel get a mini now, just wondering if anyone knows the best place for insurance, and if the car has a sunroof im guessing the accesorry roofs you buy you cant use on one with a sunroof? mainly insurance i need help with Posted Image thanks

Im not that up on modern insurance but if you are young then insurance is going to be a killer, i was getting £3000 for corsa's so i decided i love classic cars i dont mind the problems with them, and its alot cheaper, i have just got a quote for a vw beetle, £800 a year tpft and im 19 and thats when i pass my test, and classic minis arnt much more expensive.

and dont really understand the roof question as im not that up on accessories for the new mini, mums got a new cooper s but its completely standard (although i want to lower it)

What do you mean by an accessory roof? If you are referring to the BMW MINI then it will have a panoramic roof which means it had a sun roof in the front and one in the back.
The first generation (R50) mini only had a front opening sunroof the second gen (R56) had a double opening sunroof where both could be tilted open (but only the front one fully opens)

my sis bought a brand new mini and the insurance was £600 with 1 years no clams but how meany cars do you have in the family? the cheapest way is to put them all on a multi car policy mine on classic mini was 800 then it went on the multi car mine and my sis both went down to £500

Well that quote on a beetle was with Volkeszone insurance, but i have been getting quotes for £900 Third party fire and theft for classic mini's from adrian flux and the groupama mini scheme :)

Might be worth looking at cars you wouldn't usually look at. Corsas, Saxos etc are the usual first car thing, so are often driven stupidly, boy raced and crashed. As such they have a reputation. You might be able to get something a fair bit nicer and faster that's considered a bit of a grandad car for less insurance. Always worth throwing any old car you fancy in your budget through confused.com to give you an idea, even if you think it'll be too much.

I know I'm a few years older now, but for example the insurance for my partner and I is a fair bit cheaper on our Saab 9000 2.0T than on my Vauxhall Viva 1.3, despite having nearly 4x the power.

Always worth trying Footman James for classics as their rules seem to change depending on who you talk to. I don't think they insure modern cars for under 25's though, but again that's only what I've been told.
