you wouod hate a landrover after your xc90
i run landcruiser and a citroen synergie as we need the extra seats, the landcuiser is 8 seater, and is far better than the synergie, but the synergie is far better than the smaller mpv's
i looked at the elgrands and the bongo's but they drive like a van....
id stick with the xc90, surely you cant have 2 years running on big mot bills?

True...any idea on the 'limp home mode' its gone into a few times?
Worried thats going to be costly, but yeah its a great car. Test drove a Disco and a Defender and chose her above them

no, but search the net/xc90 forums?? and they may help, ive never owned a volvo, test drove one a few years ago, but i couldnt get comfy in it, i would have had a range rover, but only 5 seats and £62K put me off lol the merc GL is a nice bit of kit, but i think the new landcruiser has the edge...

Just to complicate things a little further, why don't you try a Mitsubishi shogun, dad has one with over 150,000 on a '54 and it done over a hundred thousand miles between services. So is ultra reliable and has only had a wiper linkage on it. All with 7 seats and 4wd

I've totally given up on this one
...My slight mental breakdown has now improved
Sticking with the XC90 and going to hope the MoT isnt too expensive...but yeah the shoguns are good cars (ish)

I used to have a shogun before the landcruiser, to be fair the shogun is very 'agricultural' compared to the xc90 and the lancruiser

Shogun is also a good idea. They have an 'unbreakable' feel to them. And the part-time 4WD (is that what it's called?) came in handy on the rare occasion there were floods or snow.
This was my Shogun (Pajero) with a previous Elgrand I had (2003 model)

Alun, that series shogun where fantastic, i had a 1994 2.8 model and it was above and beyond any other 4x4 of its time, thirsty as hell, but very comfortable, very capable on and off road, fantastic tow vehicle and VERY reliable, but the replacement (and current) Shogun fails in comfort, sounds like an old transit van, and the 7 seats are pointless in the rear, mitsubishi took a big step backwards with this model, yes its cheaper than the rivals, but it clearly shows when you compare it with the volvo/toyota/mercedes/discovery's
