Some years ago Max Power (pre the Max Tits days) had a project Carlton (project thunder) painted in a fairly explosive yellow. They had the bottom few inches painted in glow in the dark paint (that cost a fairly obsecene amount of money from memory) it was done in a wavy line so it almost looked like it had been driven through a trough of the paint. In daylight the colour didn't look too dissimilar to the main body colour. They had a similar problem in that by the time it was dark it had "glowed" out. What they did say was effective though was filling up at an illuminated petrol forecourt under fluorescent lights. Then they could drive off into the night looking "like a nuclear accident".

I had a nuclear accident in my underpants once when my drum brakes failed on one of my Mini back in the 80's
