Doe anyone know the correct length of the alternator belt for an 84

As the old one I have seams too short, seamed fine before :o

Even with the tensioner bolts loosened, even removed some of them completely it still didn’t want to go on
When I finally got in on and tried tensioning it there’s just no extra in the belt

Ended up bending my pry bar and a nice long gash down me leg from the front valance :D
Looks like I’m stuck on hear with my feet up till it stops bleeding

I will try Halfords tomorrow but doubt they will know

The car is an 84 with standard crank and water pump pulleys and an A127 alternator

Thanks,

did u undo all the tensioner bolts, theres one at the back end of the 'banana' type bit that needs loosening to allow you to move the alternator back and forward properly...

Yep loosened all the bolts

But when I did finally get the belt on (Had to take the alternator off to get the belt on) and tried to tension it
The end of that 'banana' type bit was still resting up against one of the water pump bolts :o

Which to me seams a bit wrong compared to ones I have seen
