Dont know if its a scam, but I do know its in rough shape. Saw pics of it were you can see the rust better. I was looking at that one and two others in the area to compare to Kermee. Was thinking of grabbing it for spare parts.

Where are you from?
I didn't know there was a Mini club in Michigan. I will have to check out your clubs website. If I found one locally I could pay one of you to look at it with me and it would be a good resorce on where to go when parts are needed.

I would agree for the most part.
I am not sure if you read my introduction or not but and I also own a 1969 Corvette with a small block V8, recently the transmission was changed from a 4 speed manual to a 5 speed(overdrive) and the rear gear was changed from a 3.73:1 to a 3:36:1. My best mileage has been 27mpg but it is usually in the 21-24 range. I am very impressed with how efficent the car has become with some different gears. Not as efficent as a Mini but they are kinda like comparing apples and oranges.

The cooper s sport 5 was the only 5 speed factory car. Fitted with the 5 speed jack knight box as standard.
Released in 1999, and i would imagine in limited numbers as i bet it was a costly model

As said twice already in this thread, the Cooper Sport 5 was not a factory model. It was a John Cooper Garages conversion. JCG was not ever a part of Rover or any other manufacturer of the Mini in the way that JCW is part of BMW. At the time the Sport 5 was available, JCG was only one of around a half dozen small dealerships offering a line of their own custom conversions. With JCG obviously carrying the Cooper name and with their conversions being designed and built by John Cooper and his staff they were at the top of the heap as it were but it's not a factory product. There were no factory 5 speed Minis.
