Hello,

I'll be fitting a Lucas Reverse Spot to my mini very shortly and am just wanting clarification as the correct positioning of it?

I see so many mounted differently on the bootlid and I just want to make sure I get it spot on.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers
Chris

I think it's down to personal preference at the end of the day although I have suspect is has to be position somewhere on the off side of the car

Why the off side? There is no legal requirement for a reverse light. There are a number of cars who have a reverse light on the near side if they just have one.

The only thing I do know is the fog light must be on the offside.

When i fitted mine i located it on the right side of the bootlid in line with the centre of the number plate so that it looked even, i think they look strange when mounted quite high up the boot. Most rally minis have them how i just described.

I thought that they were illegal if they are wired in to come on when reverse is engaged like a normal light but they're fine if they're on an auxiliary switch?

er no? its a reverse light, about as un-illegal as you could get.

now if it were a rear facing spot light thats on a semi- perminant switch, thats illegal!

They are legal so long as:

1. They are either wired to come on automatically when reverse gear is selected rare manually switched and there is a warning light in the car which is on when the rev. light is on, and
2. The bulb is not greater in power than 21 watt if the light has a reflector.

My rally 'S' has a manually switched rev. light with a warning light. It is a 5" Lucas foglight with a 55 w bulb, but I just don't care!

The pics posted look bob on to me, that's where I imagined the vast majority would be mounted.

Thanks for the info Cooperman and your personal input haha!

Cheers
