My initial idea was to build a nippy 998 but I have been offered a 1100 engine an gearbox so that has now become my engine project
THE HEAD
will be using a 1275 head with double valve springs and possibly 1:3:1 roller rockers
ENGINE
complete rebuild using standard crank pistons and con rod
will use a sw5-07 cam kit
GEAR BOX
I think I will leave the gear box and diff as standard as can't afford a straight cut or LSD
And not really Nesserary for a road car
I will be using a hif38 with itg ram air kit
Im getting a custom exhaust made once engine is fitted but will attach to a LCB

im doing this on a budget and mainly using used items
if i could afford it i would have a high spec engine built for me but thats not going to happen
this will be my first engine build so not a bad start i suppose
once done i may turn my 998 into something special

Because the 1098 is a stroked version of the 998 engine the characteristics are different. This engine is designed to make torque not bhp.
If you hold an 1100 for a period at above 6000rpm, The cranks snap. And often take other bits with it.
You do not want to put a 286 into an 1100 this is completely wrong for this bore/ stroke combination. A 266 is ideal for this engine as it exacerbates the toque produced from a longer stroke. The sw5 is similar to the 266.
If you want it to rev (a 286) and produce bhp then you need a heavily modified 998 or 1275.
I wrote a guide on the small bore engine, over 50 pages of information from stage ones to turbos. If you are interested drop me a PM.

Otherwise get the block pocketed for about 40 quid or DIY it.
No heavy duty cranks as far as i know that alleviate the problems above.
