Omg! Thankyou so much ive been looking for a sportspacj with a mk1 grille as thats what i want to do. is the external release the one with the standard release catch just under the bonnet. The little Leaver?
Yep an MPI is internal and many older Cars are external release.

I bought this one from Ebay recently, very impressed with the quality. I'm not going to fit a mustache to this one though.

When drilling holes for the Mk1 Moustache and grille assembly beware of drilling or screwing sharp self-tapping screws through the wiring harness tucked in right behind the front panel metalwork!
Get stainless steel if possible unless you can find an original 1960's item, my chrome moustache went rusty inside a year and was garaged!

i found it best to drill one spot weld at a time and then peel the lip of like a bannana (be sure to use a spot weld drill) which are flat on the end a bit like an end mill but have a small guiding flute on the end. i also centre punched all the spot welds to ensure the spot drill got the right spot without moving around! i would also watch out not to drill to far as you could end up messing your bonnet up :) hope this help, if you want me to upload the pics juts say :)
