Hi there, Just bought a gas flowed 12G295 head and i am fitting it to my stage 1 998cc. what carb should i use. A mate has given me twin 1.5's, are these the best for it. what are the advantages of twin 1.25's over twin 1.5's. any help is great. thanks

with a 998, twin 1.5 will be to big and more than likelly keep flooding the engine

you can use a HIF38 , a HS4 which you probablly have on it now , or go for twin 1.25

the HIF44 If i remember is more for larger engines..

A hif44 Will work well on a highly tuned 998, but will be too much for a mild though. depending on the cam and what work your head has had would decide it.

try it on the origonal carb first.

As Cowboy says, an HIF38, HS4 or twin HS2's really for a 998. I use twin HS2's myself but I am considering going to a single HIF38. The HIF38 is the most modern carb of the three and probably the most fuel efficient for the same performance. The small twins should be a bit more responsive than a larger single would lower down the range, and the single HS4 would be the budget choice as it's probably what you already have and perfectly serviceable.

You could download winSU and try having a look with an HIF38, and with an HIF44, and see what needles it recommends and what power curves it predicts?
