Lithium grease is perfectly fine, in fact Castrol LM can do anything on a Mini, but I am wondering if one of the modern teflon-containing lubricants might be even better here. I think you find those in the bicycle section of Halfords.

But don't use non-standard lubricants on heavily loaded parts like the suspension.
