It wasnt uncommon to make mk1's look like mk2's back in the day.

The switch panel is also different if it hs been updated.

Could be either at that year.

Value depends on condition.

The Mk1 has a floor starter button, the Mk2 has a key switch starter, it also has better seats.

Early Mk1's had a floor starter button, can't remember the exact change point or year but later Mk1's like my 1965 Mini-Minor 850 had the key start.

The first Mk2s had the same switch panel as the Mk1
Here's my Mk2 Traveller, which is an early '68. It also has the metal heater. The heater was changed during Mk2 production for a plastic faced type around the same time that the switches changed to the rocker type.
Another interior change is the indicator warning light was moved from the stalk to the top of the speedo, hence why the speedo has a small 50 at the top.

@mab01uk - I forgot they changed the ignition before the Mk2.

Just to confuse the issue,1967 was the year that the new reg letter was moved from Jan1 to Aug1,always odd that the italian job minis were mk1 but G reg.

They were old unreigstered dealer stock, not uncommon.

Actually the Italian Job Minis just had fictitious number plates put on them for the film. The film makers wanted them to be up to date, so they put G reg number plates on them as that was the current registration letter when the film was released. I think the registrations were all made up for a reason, eg. I think HMP 729G was Charlie Crokers prisoner number.

Non of the number plates used in the film were officially released by the DLVA, until a few years ago when they realised they could make a lot of money by releasing them and putting them up for auction.

But true, old dealer stock can be registered late. I used to know someone with a K reg Mini 30.

No they didn't.

Rocker switches didn't appear on a UK cars switch panel until over a year of Mk 3 production
