Hi there guys,

Ive got a moped as a run around until my 17th, but its running like a turd at the moment... A little while ago, while I was cleaning it with a pressure washer, some must have got into the engine area, and refused to start... Ever since that day, when the engine is cold, it will stall and have no power until its fully warmed up...

So, I popped the carb open the other day, and found out that both jets were clogged with dirt. I tried to clean them with a very thin piece of wire, but that has made things worse. It now still has no power, will not idle and will not stay running. I also inspected the auto choke, the seal was dirty but I gave it a clean with some WD40.

Do I need new jets for the carb? Or is it something else?

Thanks

Ben

if you have been poking the jet with wire then you may well have enlarged the hole in the jet as they are made of brass and are very soft, the engine is now probably running too rich, i would check the size of the jet (the size should be stamped on the jet somewhere) and purchase a new one.

OK, it's just your standard chinese 139QMB/A engine. First things first, I'd change the fuel filter, get a new main jet for the carb (should be ~72, but I'd check as they do vary) and see how it is then.
