Hi guys

i have a 1989 mini city and the body is in good condition and after i have replaced the offside wing and both a panels it is in very good condition. I am now obviously in need of some paintwork. I have access to a paint shop through my dad but that will only be for the final colouring in one go when the guys have a weekend off to paint my car.

Thus i need to do the primering prepping filling etc in my quite large garage at home. I have been doing some filling but i am now at the stage where i am wanting to know what a painter is happy to paint over and what will be acceptable in terms of primering and filling. I will obviously want a good result and time is not of the essence so i can do a good job. So the following questions have arised.

Is it ok to use paint stripper on the body?
Is it required?
Is primer out of a can going to be ok to be painted and last effectively once painted?
What sort of abrasives/wet and dry should i use to remove paint?
is it better to paint or waxoyl arches??
the underbody is waxoyled is this ok whilst being painted?


basically a rough guide that leaves me a car that can be taken in and painted.

any help guys is always appreciated by the padwan.
