i finished putting on my engine steady, went to take my mini out for a test run and noticed that the fan is on and is constantly on!
bro thinks i have twisted the wires on the thermostat sensor
could this be right or what do u think it is?
if it is the thermostat sensor how much would a new one be?
cheers

What year is your car? Is it an Mpi or carb? Are you talking about the yellow (standard) fan in front of the radiator, or the electric fan in the wing?

The standard yellow fan thats attached to the water pump, next to the belt that goes round the alternator, should always be on.

As minimole says, all the while your engine is on, the fan should be on.

it was constantly on unless you have major problem as its not something that can be turned on or off, its mechanical.

If you cooling system is in good nick, that should be all that’s needed

Some earlier minis, mine included only had the yellow fan bolted to the water pump pulley
Works fine as long as you have the right amount of antifreeze in the system
and the fan hasn’t been put on backwards

Which radiator are we talking about being on all the time?? The one attached to the engine or the electric one in the wing/arch?
