i've been stripping down my 998 engine and i found that it has a pin drive oil pump and camshaft.

would there be any problems with me changing the camshaft to a slot drive cam and pump.

theres no problem with changing it (with the oil pump aswell obvs) but having the pin drive cam indicates that the engine has been worked on previously as these were not standard and this cam could be an upgraded cam. is there any reason you want to change the cam????

Looks factory built with pin drive. You will need to tap 2x 1/4" unf holes to take the 4 bolt spider drive oil pump. Don't tap through the oil ways.

No reason why you couldn't rebuild it with a pin drive oil pump, unless you wanted to use a cam only available as a spider drive.

going to turn it to a 998 turbo engine,
so would need a different cam.

first try and find out what cam you have as it might be sutiable for your purpose if it is a non-standard cam

those cam lobes look remarkable tall for a standard 998 engine have a look on this site and see what you think

did some measuring and the inlet 5.81mm ( 0.225,5") lift
ex 5.65mm (0.222". )lift.

that was measuring the both sides 29.10mm on one half and 34.91 on top of lob. which gave me a 5.81mm lift on the inlet.
