Hello

Though it was about time i made a build thread. Its only until i've come to do it that i realised just how many photos i havn't taken so will take a few more over the weekend when work continues.

I use to have a clubman that i recently sold as i tend to get bored once they have been rebuilt. I missed it greatly so by pure fluke found a van just up the road from me as i was missing it the most. Money changed hands and after a very dodgy trip home (towed it and i had a board over the floor so my feet didn't hit the road) i ended up with this.

The orange beast is my daily atm.

Stripped him that weekend and found lots of rust. All the expected areas but some parts were rust free that i am very greatful for. Main one being the load bed :).

With everything off i put in a few orders and now have all the panels i need. Again fail on the picture front will get some more as i go. I've had a couple of weekends on it now and have pretty much got the back part rust free. Rebuilt the rear subframe and now made a start on the sills.

by the way the subframe took alot of work to get that good again.Posted Image

Heres a great picture of me working. Now this is how you recycle a freeze. Its sides are now welded into my brothers 100e.

I want to keep it nice and original so its quite and practical. That way i might keep hold of it abit longer :P

The plan is to make london to brighton. Wish me Luck!

Lol, no i was watching red dwaf and it has meg5 in the number plate, i guess that was enough to call it smeg. Also it wound my girlfriend up which is a bonus :).

The plans for the moment are completely original, thats just so i can get in on the road for may. After then if the 998 is too boring i may look about for some more grunt. Possibly supercharger.

Oh i'm putting discs on the front as i didn't fancy the drums but will be keeping it on 10's.

Hi,
Looking good i think vans are soo cool i want one so good one for saving it and just a small comment

a properly set up set of twin leading trailing shoe drums will provide more braking force than disc brakes ;)
keep the good work up.

I know it looks in really good knick until you get to the bottom 6" then its all rotten. Discs are alot less maintanence than drums though, self adjusting an all that, plus i tend to drive hard and break fade would definately be an issue :). Does anyone know where i can get some cheap tyres for the standard steels from? The best price so far is £40 a tyre from camskill.
