Yeah about 5 hours straight with the angle grinder and wire wheel. Even with ear defenders the ringing was loud. Plus the vibrations echoed in my arms for a couple of hours after. Everything i picked up felt like pins and needles. Proper weird!

Cheers guys. I'll be honest it is all down to knowing what i'm gonna need. On previous projects i was always waiting for bits but having done a couple now I know what i'm going to need and it only takes a few hours to find the best price. I've got boxes of bits ready to bolt on plus i spend evening recondition other bits in the garage. :)

Its all about timing :P

Right this weekends progress thus far.
Started off like this:

Going Going

Gone

Then bolted subframe on for a guide
Posted Image

And then end of the day i had both inner a panels on and lined up for the hinges and front panel ready to go once the wings are lined up
Posted Image

Front end should be complete by end of tomorrow. As long as i don't run out of gas :s

Got the rest of the front all lined up, took a while with the non-genuine front, all i can say is that genuine A-panels made the job soooo much easier

Posted Image

Lined up the bonnet to but no pic of that although i took this. My mate came over in the afternoon and i ended up helping him with a few bits but i love how our drive has evolved. I slightly surprised none of the neighbours have said anything yet.

What the old freezer? :P Worked out that excluding my mates bimmer the average age of our drive is 1975!. I hope to have the car rolling by the end of the week and semi preped for paint. Had half day on it today and painted the engine bay and front of the interior. The reason is that i can now pretty much build all the brakes, suspension, steering and engine leaving the lights. I can then move it to a friends barn to paint it. Its a bit of an unconvential way of doing it but its whats necessary to meet the deadline. Anyway abit of a boring photo of the bits i've painted.

Painted to just behind the subframe bolts. You won't see this anyway when the carpets in :)

I do really like the fresh paint its a good match but the old stuff does look 32 years old.

Right. Been busy over the last weekend. Firstly suspension was in order so....
Posted Image
I've made a boo boo with the brakes and underestimated the amount the standard wheels would stick out. Basically the discs add an extra 2" on the track i.e. 1" each side which is too much to get away without arches. So Bolted my spare 10x6 on and am now getting some group 2's which should just cover.
This is how much the 10x6 stick out
Posted Image
So all brakes and suspension components are in, just need a master and i can bleed them.

I then moved SMEGie down my mates lockup and prepped for paint and banged some primer on.

Alittle bit more fettling and painted the inside Pagent Blue

Which came out mint so on with the colour

This is with 6 coats. The plan is now to fine sand that (a few runs and dust), prep and spray the doors then bolt them on and go over the whole thing again to finish it off.

Then its just the simple task of bolting the whole thing together, MOT and taxing it in 3 weeks. Sound possible >_<
