On my Thirty, I had the tyre side walls sticking out with the tread JUST visable, and the local MOT station allowed it. However, If your talking of fitting 7x13 with out arch extensions, then good luck but I doubt you'd pass.

by law, none of the tread should be visable outside of teh bodywork - some tax exepmt cars can get away with it though

By law in the UK, you cant have wheels that protrude from the bodywork, although this looks amazingly great :withstupid: pedestrian safety comes first tsh... :)

But thats what arches are for, you can get away with 12's without any mod's sometimes...depends on everything tho!

If theyre JUST sticking out, you may get away with it.

More likely to get away with it if you cut the edges off your wings, because it fails on "sharp edges" too.

On the otherhand, I had a friend who's wheels stuck out beyond his arches about an inch, it looked awesome, passed the MOT several times, but PC Plod pulled him over one too many times for it and he had to have it sorted out.

The rule is that when viewed from directly above the wheel the tread of the tyre should not be visible (I think but I'm not sure that it's for the central 80%, front to rear not side to side, of the wheel but it could be the entire tread). Visible sidewall and rim is acceptable. Overstretched tyres however I think can be failed.

stretched tyres shouldnt be an mot failure and shouldnt get you into trouble with police either

It used to be 3mm over the arch/bodywork maximum a couple of years ago. Don't know if thats changed now though.

I should count myself lucky I spose then. Heres a pic of mine. The plod never said a word when I got pulled. They just commented on how tidy it was and how nice the wheels looked :withstupid:
