Hi,

This is a genuine bonafide Redbull mini.

I have listed this here and in the pickup section as its hard to choose a category best suited as it meets the requirements of both.

I have put this up for sale at £3500 without offers to avoid the car being broken for spares.

The car will be for sale as it stand for one week and then broken and all parts available. (please see minis breaking)

This is the read deal and is a 1999 mini mpi cooper cabro pickup

This was a complete car when I got it and I paid huge money for it, It ran and drove great but rot was in the floor and strengthening so it failed the mot.
I set about having all rotten panels repaired/replaced at huge cost by a mini specialist and also whilst it was there I have the rear subframe refurbished as you can see and also had some new a panels fitted and any other small jobs taken car of.

The purchase and the repairs are near 10k.

This car is worth 7k+ and more depending on finish once completed. The finish I was looking at would have meant the car was worth about 8.5k realistically
It now needs the finishing filler and paint.

Paint and all other parts are supplied (yes the correct shades of silver/blue and lacquer) and the roof and trims are present too.
There are some new parts like shocks and grills/surrounds etc to really set it off.

This is a potential show car and was being built as such.

The fridge panels were removed and there are no upper lids as it did have some nasty alloy check plate fitted. The lids are easy to make and I can get some dimensions and pictures for you or it would be easy to fibreglass them in.

There is NO CAN.

Here is this exact car in service.

And here is the car as she stands with new inner and outer sills and strengthening sections etc.
The car is a little further on from the pictures but largely looks the same.

If unsold the car will be broken for parts so please see my other threads soon.
Thanks

Edit:

****Please do not post messages exclaiming why this car should not and cannot be broken for spares, I have already taken this onboard and thats why I am offering it for sale first so someone can "save" it.****

Please no offers, this car will break for more than what I am asking.

Wish I had the money, could make a new can and put your own advertising on it, Alex's special brew! or something :P but I really hope this dosn't get broken, but even if it does someone will have the shell and rebuild it. Good luck with the sale!

Thanks, I have pictures galore in closeup of the can and extras incase someone does want go go that route?

Shame to break yes and thats why I am offering it here first, its worth so much more in parts though and I could do with some of them myself for other things.

I have lost my sentimentality over the years.

Thats such a good idea!
Have you tried contacting red-bull / one of the other drinks companies, it'd be a really cheap summer promotion piece for all of the festivals and shows they attend! it'd be amazing to see it back being used for what it was intended.

I can understand your frustration with the project, but I remember how hard you were looking for any info or pics of the Redbull MInis in previous threads, I wonder how you would have felt then if you knew of one that was being broken? O_O

It might be tempting to break now, but surely in the future when you look back, you'll feel happier knowing you saved something that you looked so hard for, rather than destroy it to the history books, just my 2p.

You are right, this is why i am offering it as is first.

Some drastic changes in my life have led me here and i have mulled over the choices for some time.
I am trying to do the "right" thing first.

I am happy to offer it out at less than it owes and less than i could break it for but to be honest i am not having people bash my door down here to save it. They are for the parts however... go figure?

Its a great car and real mini history that will only go up in value but its alot of money for a project.

The price has to be firm and is £1000-1500 LESS than it breaks at.

This is why my project, 1 of 2 2000 press car Knightsbridges, took so long to complete.

There were at least 2 points over the 4 years he was off the road, where I got to the point of wondering why I bothered keeping him on, watching the parts slowly degrade, loosing them and so on. I even posted him up on here twice for sale as a project.

I would strongly urge you NOT to sell, NOT to break. You do get there in the end, regardless of problems you may face; emotionally, financially or what ever. You know how great this car was to drive when you first got it, a real head turner, and great for the clear skys and warm weather. It simply isn't worth it in yourself to watch something which you must have held incredibly close to you (you may well feel the same way to this day) get broken up.

There's a great community here, and no doubt in your local area where collectively through a lot of people's help and expertise, you'll end up getting that great little car back on the road with minimal expense. For example - through long standing friends and favours exchanged, I got my clutch replaced, ECU cleared and a full check over for any problem areas last weekend - for £150. Took us 12 hours - at £35 their standard labour rates, it would have alone cost me £420 without the clutch. Ask around, get motivated, and take a good long look at what you can do practically.

At the end of it all I can tell you it is so worth it, just to have that great car back on the road again. Take a look at my project page here:

http://www.theminifo...t-golden-balls/

Worth noting the dates of posts and you can see where work picked up, and how much time there was where I gave up or got to the point of selling it.

Thanks for your post.

I agree with your thoughts and comments but I really have lost sentimentality on this. Its not down to time etc and the reasons are broad that I wont go into on a public forum.

Its great that there are people still left like you but its time for me to move on.

Its not something I will regret to be honest and I can sleep sound at night knowing I gave it a fair crack and offered it out on this very large furum of like minded people before going ahead and breaking it.

Yes its a great car, yes its huge fun and will be missed but there are more important things I have to address that will not alter even in the future.

What will be will be.

Cheers
