Bit new to this, but hang on.

I am looking to gut the tired interior from my mini. I will eventually need of complete carpets and soudproofing materials.
- Can anyone recommend sound proofing of a decent quality for a reasonable price?
- Carpet sets seem to be easily found, is there anything I should go for/avoid?
- Front seats, enlighten me. What can be done?
- At some point I will (hopefully) replacing the dash. What looks best?

Any help would be much appreciated guys!
Thanks, Jack.

Let me know how good that insulation turns out to be, it looks.. interesting

I have looked at that carpet set on the Mini spares website, and looks like the ticket. However I was hoping for a black carpet..? I could only find grey or blue or green. Should I look harder? O_O

We shall see what happens... :D

if funds allow definitely go for a newton commercial carpet set. just fitted all new interior and the carpets look great and were so easy to fit. just have some cheap minisport black matts over the top to save the carpet a bit

as for seats there are many topics about all the seats that will fit

hope that helps :)

I know ar, it confused me, but grey will do haha :D

Plenty of places do carpet sets, but minispares are great - with the discount too!

A lot of it depends on you tastes: for instance I like the early racing and rally cars so I like cobra classics and a 3 clock centre dash but some people like full on bucket seats, cages and full dashes.

What sort of minis do you like?

Cheers, will really have to look at all the options, but funds are low :( But I dont really want to comprise the quality too much.

Not sure what year your car is but the later spi/mpi twin post seats are much more comfortable than the early seats with single post head rests. And they are cheap to pick up, even the half leather ones do come up cheap from time to time.

I've got cheap carpets which fitted fine, just roll em up first to make em more soft and pliable. I've heard newton commercial are ok but not worth the extra cost.

And avoid custom console dashes, poor fit and quality in my experience.

Other than that, just look in magazines and go to shows to find out what you like best. Its all about being personal to you.

Mine is an early with the single post headrests, and they are looking quit tired!
I don't suppose anyone knows if mazda mx5 or mgtf seats would fit?
I need to go to some shows, hopefully that will open my eyes to what can be done, what works and what doesn't.
Is it best just to buy dashboards from a reputable company?

Most cheap carpet sets have absolutley no holes ready cut.
That includes around the gear stick which can be a pain to measure, and be the end of the world if you ******* it up. I've had no previous experience and manged fine though. Just something to bare in mind. :)

The best sound proofing AND sound deadening combo is, I believe, Silent coat 4mm stuff on panels to absorb vibrations and a little road noise (deadening) and then a think maybe 10-11mm carpet underlay for sound insulation plus carpet, would be ideal.

I've got vinyl covered recaro's in mine:

In hindsight I would have preferred to do the back/door cards in the black vinyl and the front seats in a Leather and cloth, or all leather, as vinyl can get very stiff in the cold and I've found it a little uncomfortable at times. Oh and also heated seats, there's a kit of carbon (better than wires) ones that you can get from a company on eBay from china, about £40 for both seats and a wide choice of switches!

and Black lacquered dash, and soon to be black lacquered centre console. I think it'll look lovely when I'm done.

The key is to not try and do it all at once, take your time, save money to get the best, worth it in the long run!

(looks a little bit rough tho with the flash on lol )

Loving the look of the dash, thats the sort of thing I am aiming for(eventually)!
like you said, It can all be done over time, so I'm in no rush.
I think being on small budget means the seats will have to wait for a while... :( But I like those recaros! How much room do they leave when tilted forward, enough to get in the back?

Im just on my phone at moment and don't have any pics to hand but I've got some leather momo seats in mine from an alfa gtv. Fit very well, don't catch anywhere and much cheaper than getting old seats covered in vinyl. I paid 150 for mine including the rears. Ill post a pic when i can.
