My parents have a classic mini cooper sitting in their garage and have had enquiries from people wanting to buy it. They have no idea what it's worth and my fear is they'll let it go for a song
Can anyone give me a vague idea of what it might be worth .. it is an Austin Mini Cooper 1966 Mark 1 with an 850 (?) engine that has been bored out to 1000. It is in British racing green - some minor corrosion - drivers seat only - and roll bars.
It has a current MOT and has been "de-seamed"
Any ideas?

I've got a piece of string here, do you know how long it is?

Seriously it could be worth anywere between £500 and £2000, depending on the condition of it and what actual model it is. It does sound like it has been used for competition so it may have some valuable period parts on it which could help lift the value.

Any advice - vague valuation gratefully received. Have also asked for shot under bonnet but that not received yet - I have obscured number plate but it is a "D" reg

Now got some pictures under the bonnet. Again I'd be grateful if anybody could give me any ballpark figures between x and y?
Many thanks

It looks pretty much complete, but it has got a lot of non standard parts. The de-seaming does not help with the value either. There are quite a few mods under the bonnet as well such as the servo and the expansion tank for the rad.

As for value I would say around £1500 to £2500 depending on how solid the shell is and weather it is a runner or not.

Many thanks - that's about what I thought. But as a novice why is it that rust buckets like this go for twice as much. Is it all to do with originality or what?
