The weight saving so negligible (I challenge anybody to notice or even measure the difference on the handling) and the safety implications so severe it's something you really want to steer well clear from.

Sure they weren't titanium?

definately aluminium, i tried a hacksaw across one of them to be certain of the material. they are pretty low grade aluminium im sure as the hacksaw flew through it! if they were titanium, i would sti be there now, with a huge pile of hacksawblades on the floor!

there are 2 links to similar sets on ebay.

a few years back i used to work in a materials testing lab, formerly known as bodycote, but now known as exova. if i still worked there i would be able to get them pulled in a hydraulic tensile press. it would be very easy to test how easily the thread pulled out the nut etc.

ok. i woudnt want anyone to think i was hoping to see a difference on the track after changing wheel nuts! i was just thinking that having spent quite allot on "real" lightweight parts, some nuts might be nice for £20!

i was honestly expecting that i would be flooded with horror stories about these nuts when i opened the topic

I have ran them on my old honda and now on my MG without issues. I run D1 spec ones which are quite expensive but beware of fakes.

Have seen them on honda's with way more power than the majority of minis would have.

Trouble i see with a mini is the studs have quite a fine thread, also i've not seen any sets in imperial.
