Ahh fair enough :) Charity shops and Gumtree are the best, on Ebay everything tends to go for market value in relation to audio systems, but I got all of the Technics seperates in the picture for £40, 10 mins down the road from Gumtree! And the speakers were all from charity shops. All you really need is an amp, two good speakers and a cable to connect the amp to your laptop/ipod etc. I just went abit further as I listen to tapes/CD's almost as much as MP3's. And the grapic equilizer just looks cool

Mmm, I like Technics! I've got a lovely 90s Denon separates system, kindly donated by my friend's parents who were throwing it out. I've got of Ruark Swordsman bookshelf speakers to go with it - it's a pretty good sound, certainly enough for running in my small room, through my computer.

I've got my eye on a pair of B&W 685s though (http://www.bowers-wi...Series/685.html) and maybe an Onkyo / Marantz amp to go with it. One day, *sigh*

Latest addition, a pair of Tannoy Mercury M20 Gold's, for the mighty sum of £10  Not sure when theyre from, probably mid 80's, but they sound unbelievable and add a real punch to the bass!

Just put the seperates on Ebay, I fancy a change of system

http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1555.l2649

I really want to put a system similar to this one together:

I just think its one of the coolest looking bits of kit Ive ever seen, the seperates are rare but after hearing one in the flesh yesterday its got to be done! Its all Technics again, but from around 1977. I bought the tuner today of Ebay :) If anyone on here has has the amp Id swap my entire system for it, Id be loosing out but I want one too bad to care! Amp is a Technics SU 7700. Ill report back when the new system is up and running, could be a while O_O

That's cool Minimarco! Did you build it yourself?

Here's my home stereo:

Rotel so of course paired with Bowers & Wilkins speakers  Atacama stands and a room that doesn't allow for good positioning at all.

Oh no. I would sooner electrocute myself and burn my house down in the process before I can build anything like that. But thanks for thinking I did lol, I did build that IKEA shelf though!

It's built to order by a small operation in Ontario.

http://www.idealinno...lite-models.htm

Seems like there's some quality enthusiast companies out there that builds in small numbers without passing on the advertising costs to the consumer.

Ordered some floor standers made by an industry veteran designer.

http://www.tektondesign.com/

Only downside is it takes awhile to have them made. Not an off-the-shelf mass production type of thing.
