New seats
Bonnet stripes

And one insurer wouldn't cover it as they said it was "heavily modified"!!!!

The insurance company told then I had to declare even changing the top part of the gear knob!
Your meant to declare anything including updating cd players etc! It's pathetic but if u crash an send out a inspector your cream crackered and they won't pay out
It happened to me I didn't declare my mods but managed to get away with it as was in the trade and we knew the inspector well so he kept quiet! And that was just alloys exhaust and tints

Out of interest, and based on non engine bits.
Would you declare:
Changing to black bumpers from chrome?
Changing to clear indicators?
Changing from silver grill slats to black?
Adding belt straps to bonnet?
Changing to halogens from sealed beams?
Adding a GB badge to the rear?
Changing wipers from black to chrome?
and many more similar tiny mods...
Im just interested... all seem pretty N/A to me, But what would you do?
I bet its not long before we hear about insurance voiding cover after a crash because of a forest fresh hanging from the mirror.
I would declare them just to be safe, they probably wont increase the cost at all and maybe just charge you an admin cost to add them all on.

Surely if you don't declare your mods they could invalidate your insurance????
That's the whole point of this topic!
On the subject of engine mods - is someone going to pull apart my engine to see what cams I do or don't have? Or weigh my flywheel?

My guess Is it depends upon the damage caused lol.

E.g. If its a small ish crash that only affects 2 cars they would not strip and examine an engine
On the other hand if you crashed head on into the queens car, bounced off into the front of the shard in London which caused it to fall - and demolish a strip of London. Then they would weigh your flywheel...

..most insurance companies want to know about *any* modification.
they can (and do) play by this rule should the car be involved in a claim, and non declared modifications can (and do) invalidate your policy.
What should be declared? - well everything thats a modification - Put it all in writing and let them know. You have done your bit then!
Some mods wont make a jot of difference to the cost, others will.
