i found out a way (my dad told me) if you take the speedo apart so you can see the mechanism you can move the didgets to the left then put it to 000000 and slide them to the right, and hey presto zero miles, worked perfect on mine.
Yes... of course... but for legal reasons, please do not post the method here.
What are the legal problems with doing this? Surely if it's to keep the mileage of the car accurate, it can't be all that wrong

If you have several weeks to hold an electric drill you can advance the odometer that way. However, it simply is not practical. I typically put the math in my replies to these threads but not today. Suffice it to say that it can literally take weeks to advance an odometer over 100,000 and back up to some lower value using an electric drill.
