Could well be some dirty/vanished petrol.
The use of an higher grade petrol is reccomendable on old engines, especially on tuned units..modern unleaded fuels are not as good as the old hi octane leaded fuel which the a-series was designed to run.

Should have known this before, I will defo be changing to shell basic, heard that was good.

Shell is expensive, but usuall you get what you pay for.

I was told in the cheaper supermarket fuel they use the bottom of the tank, the dirty stuff.
