when tiding around me engine, all the wires off the coil have fallen off due to corroded wires.

I have tried to put them back on but i think they are on the wrong way because the coil isn't sparking when i put a spark plug directly on.

The engine is a metro 1275, does anyone know what wires from where and what current should should be flowing and on to which side of the coil. any help is much appreciated.

I just had a quick look at mine and the wires connected to the "-" side have black stripes. As your's is a metro engine, I cannot guarantee they're the same, so it's at your own risk!

i have got it running, with a 12v to the positive, and the two wires off the side of the distributor to each side of the coil, but it runs like utter crap :( it ran perfectly until the wires fell off the coil :/

Oops,

I saw others looking so figured they'd reply.

The wires come with the car, as long as your coil matches all will be well.

As above, the white with black stripe go on the the negative coil terminal and connect it to the distributor. There might be a 2nd white/black for a rev counter.

The positive side varies, are there any markings on the coil "ballasted", "12volt", "electronic"....?
You might have plain white wires or white with pink or yellow stripes, tell us which.

Just seen your reply,

Iis it Lucas electronic ignition? Dizzy cap held on with screws & a black box on the side?

Well it's certainly a 65dm4 electronic dizzy, so you need a gcl143 coil ,if that's dbl105 I can make out it's the wrong coil for it.

Definitely nothing else has been changed? Firing order? plugs? (perhaps check condition).

it is a dbl coil, i took it to mini spares they looked at the car to determine the right coil. the car ran perfectly on thursday, i wrapped the wires in electrical tape and that is when the terminals fell of the coil, now she sounds like a tractor :P after guessing and power probing various wires, it is running on all cylinders just really poor

the only thing i did was wrap the wires in electrical tape to try tidy it up a little, i thoroughly regret that choice :P
