i took the cilinder head of the engine today. Head Nr: is 12g295 and cilinder diameter is 64mm.
Is the engine 850 or 1000ccm ?

(Or an 850 with 998 pistons..)
Are pistons flat tops or D shaped?

998 stock bore is 64.58
From the attached engine tag...it's an 848, and as someone mentioned a 295 head would be proper for an Inno 848

Are you able to get a rough measurement of the crank stroke?
850 bored out to accept D shaped pistons -> 2.88" (68.26mm)
998 cooper -> 3" (76.2mm)

295 can be used on 848cc ( like someone said..Inno used them on 848 )...and would have had to use raised top pistonsPistons are D shape
So if i understend you correctly head number; 12g295 is for 848ccm engines ?
I don't think any other production 848cc cars used it though, just the 998 Cooper ( I think the Sport 850 did also,...but that wasn't a factory kit )

I think there needs to be some accurate measurement of bore & sroke here to avoid all this guessing.

I find out that engine is 998ccm. Some guy who know almost everything about inno, mini told me that in italy they put engine number that was closest to hand :)
