to take the heater out
disconnect the two wires behind the panel
undo the two heater pipes
undo the large nut at the back
undo the two screws under the dash
undo the two hose clips on the the heater hoses
lift the heater up
and its out!

Perfict, Ta buddy
Im printing that out and sticking it to my windscreen on saturday.
bit of a dumb question, what happens to all the liquid ? do i end up with a swimming pool in my footwell ?

im guessing i can drain it from the rad somewhere first?

I'm afraid it's a low point in the system - so remove the carpets - and get a bowel

I clamped my pipes with G clamps with cardboard around the pipes (do at your own risk - as I don't know how old your pipes are)

that stopped a lot of water - so I just worried about what was in the matrix

I didn't disconnect any other pipes - also do while the engine is cold

I gently washed the matrix in hot soapy water , as there was a lot of greasy fluff blocking the airways

and blow thru with an air line

for the water ways , I used washing up liquid with hot water , sealed the ports and shook it back and forth

if it's an aluminium core /pipes - then flush it well with clean water , as some caustic detergents corrode ally

Assuming you are taking the blower unit apart, and assumimg its the same type I have, ie metal case held together with tiny screws, I'd suggest to get a handful of new screws as some may be rusted away when you start to take them out. Also get a strip of foam for the matrix when you assemble it all, and seal the sides of the blower case with silicone or some sealant. Lets hope like you say we wont need heaters for a while though!

You could refurb it at the same time if you wanted?

you will need to top up the rad after

and the clamps did let some thru - but not a lot

If you have the plastic pipes on the matrix - be gentle when getting the pipes off

best of luck

Keep the jubilee clips on the hoses on stick a socket extension bar in and clamp them back up if our quick you wont lose to much coolant just have a washing up bowl under just incase thats what i do.
