Hi people thought i would start up a thread for my car as i went at it with a grinder this afternoon :(. Its not really that bad just a few areas around the back of the car that are getting on my nerves so i decided to start with the passanger side rear quarter. It had cracked along the bottom were the sill trim sits and had had dodgy half inch thick filler repairs done by the previous owner :@.

So first thing i did was remove the wheel arch and sill trim then attack it with the wire wheel covering everything in white dust including my dads Porsche >_< Didnt need to worry about the interior as i have no rear seat :proud:.

Here you can see the crappy plate welded over the top on the rusty original panel >_<
Posted Image
Cut it all out and welded a new piece on the corner
Posted Image
Clamped the new panel in place after drilling all the plug weld holes and making adjustments. then began tacking it in.

To avoid getting heat distortion tacking and allowing it to cool down was the best way to weld the join up but this dosent look as pretty :mmkay: but oh well its solid.

Got the area in primer and put the arch back on so i can still use the car while working on it. i will update this when i grind down the welds and skim the panel

yeh its a good feeling :)

update!
grinded all the welds down this afternoon took a while as i dont like to get it to hot as this can also cause distortion in the panel
pic of before i started

i was using the flap disc on the grinder as it is much faster than a grinding disc and dosent generate as much heat
Posted Image
And here it is primed untill i do the finish this side.

Got the rear of the arch next to the boot panel and under the rear window to do next will update soo people ! thanks for looking!

well actually no mollie because its a 'rolling project' :P so its still perfectly usable until i do something that cant be repaired without buying a panel lol

your not convincing me with the whole "rolling project" idea. you know what will happen you'll do my doors and a panels. then you'll forget about me and ill be left with my mini half covered in primer!!xx

Done alot more work on the car in the last few days i have done the repair to the rear of the arch and am in the process of bare metaling the roof. Only doing this because i dont trust it and want to know there is no rust hiding under any filler :) this will then be painted black as im bored of the checkers

Will try to get some pictures up when i find the camera :/

is anyone even watching lol?

this is so true ! like the front subframe bottom ledge my air horn hose fell down there and didnt fall on the road on a journey home!

Found it! and i will give you lot a update now!
Right so i got the car round to the poly tunnel to begin bare metaling the roof. Had to take it over the garden wall with the aid of blocks of wood but it grounded out and ripped my brake line :( so that will need doing when it comes back round.
First thing i did was the repair to the rear of the quarter panel took a few days as i had to borrow a belt sander from college as the grinder dont fit :/

Posted Image
ground it down
Posted Image
Then i started on the roof. It was quite fun peeling the checkers off along with the laqour. But it was not fun DAing the roof down as the centre vibrates qite alot making it harder. i worked my way from the outside-in and even tryed paintstripper but that only removed the green the blue is hard as rocks and thinners dont even touch it !!

and here is the hole i need to weld up! already welded the Arial hole up

Yeh is quite loud but that don't bother me as much as how long it took to get all the paint off :@ i bet my roof has more dents than yours! i keep fillering 1 and finding another! i just cant get the shape right either need a bigger rubbing down block.
i will update soon when some of the filler is done. Only dent i have finished is the Arial hole cause that was easy lol! Also got that hole all welded up tonight and ground down ready for some filler will update soon with picsss cheers guys!
