Driving up to Scotland this evening in my Mini. A 300 mile trip each way. Then probably 200 or so when I'm there. So looking at around 800 miles this weekend. Coming back on Monday afternoon. Everyone at work is saying I'm mad and it'll never make it. Never took it furthur than 50 miles in a day before. I serviced it at the weekend and I have confidence it'll be fine, looking forward to proving all the doubters wrong :proud:

I was going to go to Newcastle from Nottingham in mine (and back) which is a 320 mile round trip. I decided not to go, I don't trust it enough lol. Maybe when it has the new 1275 engine, new rad and new rear suspension!

Good topic. I have a simular concern. In August Im planning on doing a charty drive that is 850-950 miles over 2 days and was wondering if its to much for the car. I'll be working on the car from now unfil then as Ive only had it a few weeks.

the way i see it. ive had minis do 80k with no major problems, so why would all the problems come in 800 mile. Its just a case of taking your time.

As long as you have trust in the car and know your car, it'll work.

Im learning quickly. Some of the hiways have speed limits of 70mph.
I have a while to learn the limits of my car.
If any of you are on facebook check out Motorcity Gumball.
Maybe I can get a few fans to show some support. :)

Yes no problem if the car is well maintained just back from L2B (720 miles) in 4 days. Word of advice, if possible try to avoid the motorways. Not always possible I know but whilst they cope with it Mini's just seem to 'sulk' on the motorway. Give them a fast A' road any time !!. I take my time to plan the most mini friendly route. A44 from Oxford to Worcester was a blast.

If your on the west coast use A6 from juction 35 of M6 all the way up to Carlisle (It'll put a smile on your face)

I did Market Drayton in Shropshire to Brighton and back within 2 days and it wasn't even for the London to Brighton run. That's a round trip of of 434 miles.

A mini is a car. They are designed to be used. Just check the oil, water, tyre pressure, lights etc and you will be fine. Possibly carry a 4 pint milk carton mixed up with coolant.

I used mine as a daily driver clocking up 44 miles a day and I only once had break down cover which was because someone gave it to me as a birthday present.
