As long as you've got breakdown cover, crack on and enjoy yourself

Good topic. I have a simular concern. In August Im planning on doing a charty drive that is 850-950 miles over 2 days and was wondering if its to much for the car. I'll be working on the car from now
unfil then as Ive only had it a few weeks.

I'd be more worried about you than the car

I went down to Monte Carlo and back in 6 days and the car was fine, now we travel up to 3 hours, do a weekends MSA hillclimbing then drive back again, as long as you look after the car it should be OK (touch wood!)

what it is we are fearful of the unkown in a mini the two things

that fail most are cooling and electrical

mines all new, dizzy coil etc etc, am sure it would make it

on a 400 mile round trip. never done more than 70 mile

at one time. southampton to andover to amsebury and back to southampton

went great

Mate, I travel regularly from Melbourne to Canberra (Australia) about 800kms (500 miles) in all types of weather & have never had a problem. I sit around 100Kmh (65mph) which is about 3500 rpm and she laps it up! Takes me about 81/2 hours with a couple of fuel stops along the way. If you can't make it to Scotland, there's a problem.

It sounds like you have done the basics so drive it and don't worry. Any car could break down on a long journey even a new one. I used to regularly thrash my old Mk3 tina up and down to Scotland from Bexhill a round trip of nearly 1300 miles. Apart from a dodgy earth lead it never failed to make it.

The wifes old Mayfair i used on a daily basis to drive back and forth to work at Stansted a return trip of 156 miles and it never missed a beat plus i caned it.

you can do it ...all you have to do i BELIEVE ...BELIEVE

You did well...........I have driven from London to the Millau Bridge in the South of France in 1 day a couple of times, around 600 miles then on into Spain the next day.......and that was in a Mercedes C-Class but I would not try it in a Mini so I must be getting too old!!

Thanks for the messages of support. Amazing to see the distances some of you have travelled in your Minis.
Good news is we made it :D and the Mini didn't miss a beat, not one problem. Was quite an enjoyable journey actually but was glad to arrive as it was nearly 2am by the time we got here. Treated my Mini to a wax today as a reward :D looking nice and shiney :proud:

Yes no problem if the car is well maintained just back from L2B (720 miles) in 4 days. Word of advice, if possible try to avoid the motorways. Not always possible I know but whilst they cope with it Mini's just seem to 'sulk' on the motorway. Give them a fast A' road any time !!. I take my time to plan the most mini friendly route. A44 from Oxford to Worcester was a blast.

If your on the west coast use A6 from juction 35 of M6 all the way up to Carlisle (It'll put a smile on your face)

Might try this route on the way back, rather than just go down the M6
