what are these wing re-inforcing plates? and cant they be used with non-genuine arches? i think that my car has had the arches and not the re-inforcing plates!

When Rover trimmed the arches on the special Sportspack production line they fitted a re-inforcing plate behind the cut edge of the arch to make up for losing the flange on the arch which normally gives loads of stiffness to the panel. If when fitting them you take the extra time to bend a new flange on to the wing after trimming then you don't really need them as such but Rover didn't want to be taking the time to joggle the panel edge by hand on each car down the line so they fitted the re-inforcing plates which clamp the panel edge to the arch. They can't be used with non-gen as the stud holes don't line up but I'm sure you could drill more holes in them if you wanted. It's one way to tell a genuine Sportspack from a phoney as no-one fits them.

Part number HMP441029 for a full car set about £45.00.

If you buy a new BMH Sportspack shell then these will be fitted to it as standard.

i've got the non-genuine ones (rubber type) virtually the same as genuine sportspack (seen both) but they are rubbish if you have to cut them for flip fronts. so have a set of fiberglass ones coming soon, reckon they will be about the same to fit.........................i think
